I grew up visiting my grandparents in Ballyporeen, Co. Tipperary, where fuchsia tumbled over the front wall all summer long. That bright red, bell-shaped flower is such a fond memory. The Irish name for it is Deora Dé, God's tears, and that combination of wildness and warmth felt like the natural heart of this piece.

Fuchsia blooms wind around the stoneware vase, painted in vivid red and purple underglaze and finished with a glossy transparent glaze, with my hidden ladybird tucked somewhere among them.
