There is something about putting a living plant into a handmade pot that changes both of them. The pot stops being an object and becomes part of something growin, roots filling the clay, the plant and the piece becoming one thing together over time.

This pot is decorated with the red poppy, the cailleach dhearg, the Witches Flower, that refuses to be tamed, pushing through cracks in stone and blazing from field edges where it has no right to be. Bold red poppies, hand-sculpted in vivid underglaze, wind around the soft square form and finish under a glossy transparent glaze. Raquel’s hidden ladybird is tucked somewhere among them. An organic, uneven form that feels exactly the way handmade things should feel.
