Poppy Candle Holder

Poppy Candle Holder
The Irish called it cailleach dhearg, the Red Hag, and was once named it the Witches Flower for its habit of appearing where it had no right to be: blazing from field edges, pushing through cracks in stone, refusing to be tamed. This handbuilt stoneware candle holder captures that defiant spirit. Bold red poppies and butterflies, painted in vivid underglaze, wind around the surface and finish with a glossy transparent glaze, and my hidden ladybird somewhere among the blooms.
As the candle burns, the light plays across the flowers, the red deepens, and the butterflies seem almost to move. The wide, round base makes it safe for tealights or small pillar candles; wax collects in the base and lifts out cleanly once cooled.
Handbuilt from stoneware clay in Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare. Each piece is made to order just for you, please allow around 4 weeks for delivery.
