The Undiscovered Self: An Invitation to Inwardness.
My new work is my exploration into the unseen inner wilds of the self, the deep, often hidden psychological structures that govern our lives. I am fundamentally fascinated by what we genuinely do not know about ourselves, the truths that our ego diligently conceals, and the uncomfortable realities we actively avoid.
These statement pieces are a visual confrontation with the unseen landscape within, using deep etching and layered colours to symbolize the necessary darkness from which genuine freedom and transformation must emerge.
Drawing inspiration from the depth psychology of Carl Jung, particularly his seminal work, The Undiscovered Self, my work echoes the resonant truth that ‘fear impedes us from revealing our true selves.’ This exploration has been renewed by contemporary perspectives on mental conditioning, by the likes of Peter Crone, The Mind Architect, acknowledging how the ego acts as the architect of the mind, tirelessly running the show and erecting walls against genuine self-exploration.
"These pieces belong to a collection inspired by the 'Inner Wilds' of the subconscious. To learn more about the philosophy behind the work—from Carl Jung to the modern perspectives of Peter Crone—read the full story here: Revisiting a College Truth."
